Bengaluru: Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar has said that the government is planning to provide a high-speed internet facility to all government schools through cable in partnership with Bharat Net.

"We have had a preliminary discussion with the relevant department on this issue and the first phase is to be implemented at the cluster level and this is expected to be realized within the next one year," he said. Kumar stated the move by the government would give a new direction to the government school education system in the near future.

The minister added that the conditions arising from Covid have made it imperative for introducing technology-based learning. On the reopening of schools, the minister maintained that though attendance is not mandatory the parents who want to send their wards can hope for a safe environment in schools.

The State government on Wednesday said regular classes for grade 10 and second year PUC would resume from January 1 as announced earlier.
