After a series of instances where right-wing outfits called for a ban on traders of non-Hindu origins at temple fairs, another such incident came to light in Tumakuru.
Tumakuru: After a series of instances where right-wing outfits called for a ban on traders of non-Hindu origins at temple fairs, another such incident came to light in Tumakuru. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal have submitted a written request to the Deputy Commissioner of Tumakuru seeking a ban on non-Hindu traders at the Gubbi Channabasaveshwara temple fair.
VHP leader, J K Srinivas said in the request that the Muzrai laws according to the Government puts a restriction of non-Hindu traders within a 100 meters of the temple premises. The fair has begun on Thursday this week and he requested an enforcement of the law. A warning was also given by another leader claiming that if traders from other religions are allowed into the temple premises, the outfit will stop the traders themselves.
Instances where right-wing outfits claimed such repercussions were witnessed in Kadri Sri Manjunatheshwara Temple in Mangaluru, Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple, and Hosa Marigudi Temple in Udupi among few others. All these instances were witnessed since April of 2022.
During the three-day Gubbi Channabasaveshwara temple fair, police have strengthened security in and around the temple premises.
