Review: Anurag Kashyap's Choked, Paisa Bolta Hai Hits A Jackpot With His Netflix Debut

Anurag Kashyap is back and how! The maverick filmmaker is known for his brilliant filmmaking and this time he has built the premise of his movie on PM Narendra Modi's demonetisation. So what is it all about?

Choked Plot: A bank staffer leading a hand to mouth existence finds a stash of cash in her own house!

Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai can be streamed on Netflix. The movie stars Malayalam actor Roshan Mathew and Saiyami Kher in the lead roles. Amruta Subhash and Rajshri Deshpande play the supporting cast in Anurag Kashyap's Choked. Never did anyone expect the well known filmmaker to venture into Netflix project. But the director did it and is successful in his attempt.

Set in Mumbai, Sushant is a jobless man in Choked. But he's surviving all thanks to his wife Sarita who's earning to make ends meet. Besides the matchbox size house they live in and growing debts, the couple is battling other issues too. A sound from the sink wakes them up in the middle of the night and they are naturally worried about a clogged kitchen sink issue again. But to their surprise the reason it is clogged is because of a bundle of currency. And this could just save Sushant and Sarita's marriage too.

Choked is Saiyami Kher all the way and Roshan matches her in performance. The plot is impressive and keeps the audience engaged because there is certainly a sense of deja vu feeling. Choked may not be in the same league as other Anurag movies, but the movie sure is gripping and is relatable to us Indians who bore the brunt of demonetisation.

Verdict: Anurag Kashyap hits a jackpot with his Netflix venture Choked
