Himayathnagar: A child marriage survivor and resident of Amberpet Kavya scored 6.5 GPA in the SSC results announced on Monday. The spirited girl achieved this feat despite the parents not allowing her to go school from October last year. She attended only the exam and managed to pass. The Balala Hakkula Sangham (Child Rights Protection Association) congratulated her.
It may be noted that her marriage was fixed on October 20 last year. The Sangham got wind of it three days before. The BHS members immediately rescued Kavya. It came to light that she was engaged to a groom who was already married and childless, according to Achuta Rao, honorary president of the Sangham.
