Charminar: As part of upcoming Bonalu preparations, GHMC Zonal Commissioner for South B Srinivas Reddy toured different areas and took stock of the civic problems on various routes leading to different temples. The traditional procession would be taken out in the first week of July, as part of the grand festivities.

The official who visited different temples, along with the representatives of the temple committees, assured them that all the civic works would be completed prior to beginning of the festivities. On Friday, he examined the works, along with other GHMC officials, towards ensuring smooth conduct of the upcoming festival, identified traditionally with the Telangana culture.

As part of his tour programme, he visited Mahankali Temple at Uppuguda. Later, he toured the famous temples in Gowlipura, Lal Darwaza, Simhavahini Sri Mahankali Temple. He also examined the areas like Om Nagar, Mekala Banda, Aliabad, Hari Bowli, Akanna Madanna, Bela Muthyalamma and other temples and inspected the works there.

The committee representatives of different temples brought to his notice the pending works that should be given top priority. He called upon the officials concerned to complete works, however small in the stipulated time. For major works, he asked the officials to invite tenders immediately with the objective of completing them before the festival season.

Along with the Zonal Commissioner, the procession committee president, P Srinivas Yadav, representatives Balwant Yadav, P Venkatesh, representatives of various temple committees TirupathiNarsing Rao, K Venkatesh, Ale Bhaskar, C Venkatesh, P Venkata Ramana, Hansraj, V Naresh, the officials Suryakanth, Ganesh, O Prasad and others were present on the occasion. Bonalu is celebrated in the Old City from July 2 to 4. On this occasion, a good number of devotees attend the celebrations.
