Kukatpally: Fed up with complaining to GHMC officials about illegal constructions at Gopal Nagar, the residents have called for a silent march in their colony on Saturday. As many as 15 complexes are illegally coming up. Though only three-storied constructions are allowed on the plots with an area less than or equal to 300 yards, unidentified persons are building 4 to 5 1/2 storied complex.

Residents say they have lodged numerous complaints against illegal constructions with GHMC officials, but no action has been taken so far. They pointed out that if these structures come up then limited civic resources like electricity, drinking water pipeline will be under severe strain to meet the demand. It can also result in damage to drainage system and roads. Around 600 residents reside in the area, said one Rakesh Kumar.

As no building permissions are granted by civic bodies, it is the responsibility of the officials concerned should wake up and take proper action against the builders, demanded M Raghava Rao, president of Gopal Nagar colony welfare association.
