Hyderabad : As many as 15 members were severely injured in a major fire accident that occurred due to the gas leakage at the famous Karachi Bakery’s manufacturing unit located at Gaganpahad in Shamshabad. It is suspected that a cooking gas leak sparked a blaze at the baking unit. The 12 injured persons are undergoing treatment at DRDO Apollo Hospital, and three are admitted to Trident Hospital.

The fire occurred on Thursday morning around 10 am in the city outskirts, within Shamshabad RGIA police station limits. According to the Fire department, the fire mishap was reported at the manufacturing unit in Gaganpahad. “We received a call around 10:40 am and rushed a fire tender to the spot. However, the fire was controlled by then, and the injured staffs were rushed to the hospital,” said an official. The cause of the fire is said to be a gas leak in the pipeline triggered by overheating the oven. Most of the injured workers are from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

As per the Ranga Reddy District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), a team of officers also visited the hospital and investigated the burn case. The injured persons, Shubham (32), Balram (35), Kamal Kishore (33), Dara Singh (35), Sujith (19), Sonu (36), Aditya Kumar (19), Mukesh Kumar (26), Sandeep Kumar (27), Pramod Kumar (23), Deepak Sukla (22), and Pradeep Kumar (27) are undergoing treatment at DRDO Apollo Hospital in Santosh Nagar. The persons received 35 to 80 per cent burn injuries. The other three persons, Sandeep (25), Sunny (20), and Amresh Kumar (20), are being treated at Trident Hospital.

Pramod Kumar, an injured person at Apollo Hospital said, “We were baking the items in an oven when suddenly a fire was engulfed due to a gas leakage, and nearby workers were injured." “Following the incident, we were shifted to a nearby private hospital, and some of us were shifted here,” he added.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy took to X to express his shock over the incident. He expressed his shock over the fire incident in the Karachi Bakery manufacturing unit. He directed the secretary to the Medical and Health department to provide better medical facilities.

The officials told Revanth Reddy that most of the injured were workers from Uttar Pradesh. The CM ordered the concerned authorities to immediately provide better medical treatment to the 15 workers who were injured in the incident.
