Bagh Lingampally: Chikkadpally Detective Inspector K Prabhakar has urged students to have social consciousness, apart from focusing on studies. He was speaking at an awareness session at Dr Ambedkar College on Wednesday on the topic of 'Attacks on women and their protection.' Dr Ambedkar High School Principal Chari presided over the session.

Addressing students, K Prabhakar advised women to be conscious of the society around them in order to face challenges in their lives. He said that women should be given freedom to move around as mobility is essential for their progress, but they need to take proper precautions in view of increasing attacks on women. Prabhakar advised parents to counsel their boys on how to behave with girls and respect them. Improper parenting may result in incidents such as Disha, he said.

He emphasised on the need for stricter laws to contain attacks against women. He also stressed on the need for training women in martial arts for their self-protection.
