Nampally: The TS Urdu Academy has come up with a novel programme, 'Aao Urdu Seekhen' for the summer to promote Urdu among youth. The young generation is slowly drifting away from the rich cultural heritage ingrained in the language.
Out of a total of 75 camps, which were started all over the state, 40 are running in city, covering areas like Yakutpura, Vattepally, Falaknuma, Barkas, Chandrayangutta, Bandlaguda, Chanchalguda, Kishen Bagh, HussainiAlam, Rein Bazar, Moghalpura, Malakpet, Tolichowki, Nampally, Golconda and several other pockets.
The initiative has been taken for the first time to espouse the language, which is wallowing in neglect. Besides ensuring that youth learn Urdu in the shortest possible time during summer, the Urdu Academy is also offering some books. This is being described as a great opportunity for the English medium students to learn Urdu and Basic Arabic in their summer holidays.
"This is an opportunity for students studying in English and other medium schools to learn basic Urdu, Arabic and Islamic studies. Moreover, Ramzan will also start within few days and this only adds to the stronger dedication if someone is interested," said Maulana Raheemuddin Ansari, chairman of TS Urdu Academy.
Speaking to The Hans India, Raheemuddin said that as the summer camps are at their initial stages, the organizers are still inviting applications from those who are interested. The camp is running all over Telangana, and as of now, over 75 camps are being run at different locations wherever space is available. On an average, in each district around 5 camps are being run in institutions like madarsas.
Raheemuddin also said that in each camp there are around 40 students and if the camp is within the City. While in the districts, each district is running about 5 camps with about 100 students each and that there has been good response. The camp, which was started on April 20, will be concluded on May 20. On the day of completion, the TSUA will also provide the participation certificate.
In the summer camps, the TSUA is also providing free set of 3 Urdu books like Aasan Urdu A, Aasan Urdu B and Nisab e Deeniyat, written by Maulana Ahamd Ubaid Ur Rahman Athar, along with a long notebook. "The parents and guardians should avail of this chance and get benefitted from the camps to strengthen their language skills, which were adorned by their ancestors."
