Kompally: Kompally to Bolarum stretch has turned notorious as drunkards are on the prowl. Thanks to the sprouting of wine shops in the stretch, nuisance by drunkards is creating havoc. Added to the problem is the lack of street lights.
There is Manju Wine located in Defence Lane and in the vicinity are several educational institutions. Vehicles are parked all over, leading to traffic congestion over here. "Residents are worried that people are drinking in groups outside shops and in their cars with their doors open.
There are often street fights and brawls on account of people consuming liquor outside the shop, which makes it unsafe for women and children to move around," said Soujanya Reddy, a resident of Bolarum.
"Tipplers are also blocking the road leading to our society and some women who return late from work are insecure to use this area. Apart from that, there are no CCTV cameras installed in the lane. Especially, the young girls are ill-treated by drunkards.
