Visakhapatnam: Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) successfully conducted the maiden flight trial of Sahayak - New Generation (NG) Air Droppable Container.

The trial was held with parachute system capable of carrying critical stores for ships in distress at sea from Indian Navy's fixed wing aircraft.

The system was deployed off Goa on Wednesday. Sahayak-NG has a satellite-based reporting terminal which provides its precise GPS location enabling the ship in distress to pick up critical stores.

Scientists from NSTL under the guidance of Principal Project Director NSTL RVS Subrahmanyam, scientists from Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment, Agra, Lead Integrator, Avantel, Visakhapatnam and IN aviation personnel participated in the trial.
