Hyderabad: The Excise enforcement team on Tuesday arrested two persons for allegedly smuggling cocaine into the city from Bangalore.

The persons were identified as, Taran Jyothi Singh and Amit Kumar.

According to N Anji Reddy, Assistant Excise Superintendent (Enforcement) officer, the two were businessmen in Hyderabad.

Taran had an electronics showroom in Trimulgherry and Amit had a manpower consultancy in Punjagutta and both of them were friends since many years. "The duo was also addicted to ganja and cocaine.

Since the lockdown began, they were unable to fetch the banned substance. So they hatched a conspiracy to trade cocaine from Bangalore as they had contacts over there. The duo then procured an inter-state pass from the Commissioner of Police on the pretext of selling face masks," said the officer.
