Tiruvallur Women's Court handed out 10-year-imprisonment and a penalty of Rs 5 lakh to one Anthony for raping a minor girl. Anthony raped the girl near Avadi in Chennai. The incident occurred on January 23, 2017.
Anthony took an unsuspecting girl – daughter of Moses and Prasanna – to an abandoned house and raped her.
Based on a complaint by the girl's father, the police investigated the case and chargesheeted Anthony. The Women's court judge Selvanathan sentenced Anthony for ten year imprisonment and an addition six months of imprisonment, if he fails to pay up the penalty amount. The accused has since been shifted to the prison.
