Hyderabad: The Vanasthalipuram police on Wednesday cracked the twin murder case and arrested the man on charges of allegedly killing his wife and son. According to Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat, accused Mohammed Abid Alam (27), a labourer and resident of Autonagar in Vanasthalipuram, killed his wife G Kavitha (alias Saba, 25) and son Mohammed Irfan (2).

The accused allegedly suspected that his wife was having an extra marital affair in his absence. He hatched a plan to kill his wife and son and later marry another woman. As per his plan on April 28, in the absence of co-tenants and house owner, at about 11 am the accused smothered her with a towel to death. Then, he throttled his son to death.

Based on the complaint by G Ramesh (28), elder brother of Kavitha, in which he stated that he found his sister and her son in an empty water plastic drum, the police took up investigation.
