JODHPUR: On Monday, in the state of Rajasthan, a court of the metropolitan magistrate had directed the police to register a case against the father of a bride for giving dowry.

During the wedding, Ramlal had given Rs 1 lakh in an envelope to the groom. In a counter case, Jethmal appealed to the court to file a case against Ramlal for giving dowry.

Brajesh Pareek, counsel for the father-in-law had said, "During the arguments, Ramlal insisted that he had given dowry in his daughter's marriage. But we said if taking dowry was a crime, giving it was also a crime. We appealed to the court to direct police to file a case against Ramlal for giving dowry."

"After marriage, Kailash resumed his job as a software engineer in Noida leaving his wife behind. When I took my daughter to Noida, Kailash did not accept her and pushed us away," Ramlal had said in his complaint.
