Vellore: The rail traffic was interrupted due to the breakage of the rod which supplies electricity to the power line near Jolarpettai junction. With this, all trains passing between Chennai - Bangalore route stopped in the middle.

Going into details, a passenger train from Arakkonam to Salem via Jolarpettai has arrived at Kodamandapatti railway station, where the power supply rod above the engine was broken, and the train got halted there itself.

Immediately, the loco pilot informed the officials at Jolarpettai railway station. On responding, the electrical technician staff reached the spot and restored the line. In the technician team who has arrived from Arakkonam railway station for the repair, a senior technician Gopinath (40) was also among the group. While he was crossing the railway line after finishing the repair works, Lalbagh Express from Bangalore to Chennai hit him.

In the impact, Gopinath died on the spot. On receiving the information, Jolarpettai police have reached the spot and shifted the dead body to Tirupattur hospital for post-mortem.
