Children’s Mental Ability at Abacus Competition Stuns All, National Abacus Competition. Nearly 3,100 kids from 20 states in the age group of 4 to 12 years participated in the 10th National Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition held here on Saturday.

Hyderabad: Nearly 3,100 kids from 20 states in the age group of 4 to 12 years participated in the 10th National Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition held here on Saturday.

Competitions were held in 16 different categories (including AMAL & SIP Abacus 12-Levels). The children displayed their prowess by doing 120+80+80 mathematical sums in just under ‘5+3+3 minutes (depending on different levels) and got appreciation as fastest human calculators. They stunned everyone with their answers within no time. The winners of this competition will get eligibility to represent in an International Competition.

Organised by SIP (Sociable, Intellectual and Progressive) Academy India, the Indian arm of SIP Academy (Malaysia), and its Hyderabad Chapter have been the host of the event three times in the past. Kelvin Tham, founder of SIP and also the president of Asian Mental Research Association and president of Abacus Arithmetic and Development, said, "Technology is becoming a major part of innovation in our lives." Exhorting students to concentrate more on mathematics, City Commissioner CV Anand said, “If you are good at Mathematics, you can crack any competitive exam."
