New Year of Indian Air Force started with new chief. A Fighter pilot, Arup Raha has taken over the charges of the Chief of India Air Force on Tuesday. He is the 24thChief of Air staff (CAS). He succedded Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne.

In a ceremony taken place at CAS office at Air HQ in New Delhi, Air Chief Marshal Raha assumed the charge. He will remain CAS for next 3 years. In his message to a huge force of 1.75 lakh airwarriors, he made a mention of modernization and transformation of the equipment and manpower of IAF. Raha said the force will continue to support the maintenance of security forces deployed for counter-insurgency operations. Arup Raha was commissioned on December 14, 1974 in the fighter stream of the IAF.
