In his third public appearance in three weeks, Microsoft New CEO Satya Nadella expressed the need for a ‘data culture’ to thrive in the new computing environment. Nadella spoke about the plans for Microsoft that include pushing the company further towards the future in technology with mobile and cloud, internet connected computing. This is a tremendously opposite game plan from that of his predecessor Steve Ballmer, who was more into personal computers and Windows operating system.

“Every aspect of Microsoft’s business is being fundamentally transformed because of data. You have to build deeply into the fabric of the company a culture that thrives on Data” , Nadella expressed in his presentation held at San Francisco yesterday.
Nadella also focussed on vital aspects such as managing own heating costs, analysing customers’ website usage and Microsoft’s strategy playing a central role in gathering, storing, processing and presenting data, with the advantage of its latest database products, data centers and the Office applications including Excel spreadsheet program.
“Think of the Office as the canvas, or the surface area, or the scaffolding from which you can access the data” he said.
“Mobile first, Cloud first’ stated Nadella, revealing the new plans that are not ground breaking but signify changed approach in technology.
Nadella also announced the public test version of a cloud based system for managing the data automatically, with the release of Microsoft’s Analytics Platform System which lets the consumers to analyse bigger chunks of information meeting the existing
market called big data.
“To be able to truly benefit from this platform you need to have a data culture inside of your organization. For me, this perhaps is the most paramount thing inside of Microsoft” Nadella expressed.
“It’s not going to happen without having that data culture where every engineer every day is looking at the usage data, learning from that usage data, questioning what new things to test with our products and being on that improvement cycle which is the lifeblood of Microsoft” he added.
Microsoft shared with the Wall Stree Analysts that Nadella would appear on quarterly earnings conference calls, from next week.
