Hyderabad: Gold and silver which has been conveyed in a car to B.Kottakota of Chittoor district from Bangaluru, early on Wednesday, has been seized by the police. The police who were carrying out spur-of-the-moment checks have seized the gold and silver at Tanamitta check post in AP-Karnataka border.
In this incident, 500gm gold and 2kg silver have been seized by the police from a car as the same were not supported by appropriate documents such as bills. The local SI BV Sivaprasad Reddy said that they were on a regular checking and no specific information was received for the same. A case has been booked and the accused have been held by the police apart from seizing the gold and silver.
It is worth mentioning here that Banwar Lal, the Chief Election Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh, said that so far they have seized Rs 108cr during their checking carried out in view of the looming elections. He addressed the media and said that they have also seized 69.5kg gold, 300kg silver apart from 4.10L litres liquor. Further, he said that EC would ensure that franchising of the votes should be more than 90% this time.
