Hyderabad: Telangana JAC has demanded the Centre to immediately withdraw its decision to transfer seven mandals in Khammam district to Andhra Pradesh State. JAC chairman Prof Kodandaram stated that they would take the fight to national capital with 'Chalo Delhi' programme on July 14 besides exploring legal options as well.

TJAC organised a protest at RTC crossroads on Saturday morning to express its protest against the NDA government’s move. Besides TJAC leaders, Chada Venkat Reddy and Ajiz Pasha (CPI), S Veeraiah (CPI-M), Vimalakka (TUF) and several others took part.

They staged a rastaroko for over two hours, which led to traffic congestion on the busy route. Later, they tried to take a procession until Gunpark but police interrupted them at Chikkadpally and arrested them. Kodandaram called upon the Centre to do a rethink on the decision or else Telangana community would take the protest route.

Meanwhile, Chada Venkat Reddy (CPI) and S Veeraiah (CPI-M) blasted Narendra Modi for the anti-people decision. The day would not be too far when public wage a revolt against this undemocratic government, they warned.

“The joy of separate State is short-lived. People are forced to come on to streets in support of lakhs of tribals who are set to be displaced because of the project,” Telangana United Front leader Vimalakka said.

TJ activists lay siege to BJP headquarters

Meanwhile, Telangana Jagruthi activists and Telangana lawyers staged protest in front of BJP state headquarters in Nampally in protest against the decision on Polavaram by BJP government in New Delhi. They tried to barge into the office but were stopped by BJP activists.

Heated arguments and minor scuffle ensued. However, police intervened and arrested protestors.
