Hyderabad: Once again poor state of the engineering colleges in State has surfaced with the Task Force report which said that during the 2011-2012, only 19 colleges out of 700 in the united Andhra Pradesh could register 80-90 per cent pass rate, while colleges which secured less than 20 per cent pass rate was 143.

In a report submitted by the Task Force to higher education department on Wednesday, it said it had inspected about 675 colleges in the united Andhra Pradesh during 2011-2012 academic year. According to the report, the lecturer to student ratio is 1:28, while according to AICTE it should be 1:15. The report said that 365 colleges don’t have proper laboratories and 393 colleges lack proper computer terminals. It stated that 319 colleges lack built up area. Only 11 colleges out of 700 colleges in united AP followed AICTE norms and were following 8th pay revision commission for non-teaching staff, the report said. The report further added that of the 700 colleges in the State, 265 companies have conducted campus recruitments in 421 colleges and offered jobs to some 17,652 students. It recommended the government to file appropriate cases for furnishing wrong details.
