Hyderabad: The Maharashtra government has come forward to extend full cooperation to Telangana govt in resolving all issues pertaining to Pranahita-Chevella project. It even agreed to hold inter-State standing committee meeting constituted for the project to finalise alignment of the project, area of submergence and other issues before August 20l4.

Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao held discussions on inter-State issues pertaining to Lendi, Lower Penganga and Pranahitha-Chevella projects with his Maharashtra counterpart Hasan Mushrif in Mumbai on Wednesday.
During the discussion, both parties agreed to the following points. On Lendi project, Maharashtra government agreed to execute the long pending balance works of canal and aqueduct, and would be grounded and completed by July 20l5. Telangana government, on the other hand, agreed to contribute its share in the increased project cost with a request to complete the project by 2015 to irrigate 22,000 acres in Bitchkunda and Maddur mandals of Nizamabad district.
As far as Lower Penganga Project is concerned, Telangana government, upon Maharashtra’s request, agreed to reconfirm the inter-State agreement between the two States for its implementation. In response, Maharashtra agreed to delink barrage proposals below Penganga Dam from the main Penganga project DPR and pursue clearances to the earlier proposal with Central Water Commission (CWC).
