Warangal: The students of Kakatiya University are forced to cook their food in the absence of common mess facility. The officials have turned a blind eye to the request by students for opening two hostels, named Padmaskshi Women’s Hostel and Prataparudra mess.

These hostels cater to the needs of about 3,000 students. Inmates of Pothana and Padmakshi women’s hostels are forced to cook their food themselves. Some of them have returned to homes unable to meet the high cost in the absence of hostel facility. The peculiar situations has arisen with the privatisation of hostels by the university officials.

The common mess is likely to be opened on Monday though classes are conducted for last one month. Strangely, the University is being administered under the stewardship of incharge vice-chancellor.

Leaders of ABVP, PDSU, SFI, TGVP and TRSV condemned the officials’ attitude. Rakesh, KU ABVP president, has threatened to stop the inauguration of the common mess on Monday.

Srujana, a PG student, told The Hans India that the money brought from home was spent on purchasing essential commodities. Another student Akshara said she had to skip college and take up tuitions for earning money to buy food. Another student Kavita said new PG students had returned to homes.
