Constble Eshawarayya who died during the attack hails from Srikakulam. "Siddipet Yellam Goud gang carried out the attack," said Anand.
The body of the constable will soon be moved to his native village, he added.
SI Venkata Reddy who sustained injuries is battling for life at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad, it is learnt.
The police has launched a manhunt to nab the Siddipet Yellam Goud gang. Security has been tightened around Shamirpet area following the incident.
