Hyderabad: Telangana State Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy will lead a delegation to Mumbai on a two-day visit on August 21 and 22, to study the public transport system in the city.

At a review meeting focusing on the ‘Modernisation of city police traffic issues’ held at Secretariat, the Minister said the government was working on transforming the city traffic into a well-managed traffic zone on the lines of Mumbai. The government would also take up an awareness programme for pedestrians and commuters on traffic rules.

He said severe action would be taken against the violators of traffic. Averting accidents, hitch-free transportation were some of the issues discussed during the meeting. The study tour is intended to focus mainly on improving the public transport system in Hyderabad, where around 35 lakh passengers use the public transport daily.

The Minister, upon his return from study tour, would submit the report to the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
