Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday said he would like India's newest state to develop on the lines of ‘Singapore model.’ Addressing the alumni of Indian Institute of Management Conference (IIMPACT) in Singapore, he said he was impressed by the zero corruption, discipline and time management in Singapore. He said he was also studying the industrial policy of Singapore to provide fillip to the industry in Telangana.

The TRS government would offer better incentives to investors than any other state in India. Industries across the spectrum could avail of the tax benefits in the offing, he said. In response to a question on the percentage of tax in the likely ‘pioneer status’ for investors, he said: “I don't specify the percentage, but it would not be lower than that in any other state.” Rao dismissed concerns over power shortage in the state, assuring that his administration would overcome this critical requirement of the industries in 2 to 3 years. “By the time your industry comes up, we will have become a power surplus state," he stressed.

The Chief Minister said that he was aware of the fact that industrialisation was the key to fostering economic growth and hence he was pressing ahead for massive industrial development in Telangana.
