We want to see many global events happening in the city. The recently launched initiative, ‘Happening Hyderabad’, coordinated by IdentCity along with Tourism, has been getting overwhelming response. We were just looking at 52 events for 52 weeks. Now the IndentCity has lined up 157 events. Even Badminton League and Kabaddi League want to be a part of the ‘Happening Hyderabad’ initiative
IT minister K Tarakarama Rao has announced that the Telangana Government would set up Hyderabad Habitat Centre (HHC) at Khanamet between Hitec City and Kukatpally on the lines of New Delhi's Indian Habitat Centre.
KTR made the announcement after launching the Telangana Chambers of Events Industry (TCEI) on Wednesday. The TCEI is a not-for-profit organisation. The industrial body comprises six industry sub sectors viz., Events, Sound, Light and Video, Facilitators, Event Caterers, Event Venue and Entertainers.
KTR said that the proposed HHC or Event City would be set up at a cost of Rs 100 crore. He added that it was a great sign that the event industry was organising itself into a professional body.
"This makes easier for the government to interact with the industry. For any industry to grow you need an industrial body and I am happy that TCEI has been formed. It is the first of its kind of a body in India. It is a wonderful initiative," he said.

"I am also keeping my fingers crossed that a big event management company is also planning to host South India Film Awards function in Hyderabad for the next three years," he added.
The minister said that the Telangana government was committed to decongesting Hyderabad by coming up with various clusters for the growth of the city.
“As part of this initiative, cities for Pharma, Film, Games, and Sports are planned,” KTR informed.
