Hyderabad: The State Commission for Protection Child Rights (SCPCR) suo motu on Sunday took up a case of a first standard student being knocked down by a school bus at Uppal on Saturday evening.

B Roshan, 5, a student of Brilliant Grammar High School of Dilsukhnagar, got down from the Swaraj Mazda school bus at Laxminarayana Colony where the boy's house was located around 5 pm on Satudray. As he walked towards his house from the rear side of the bus, he was knocked down.

"Failing to notice that Roshan was on rear side of the bus, the driver reversed the bus knocking him down," Uppal sub-inspector, Vikram Reddy said, adding that the boy died on the spot. Angry locals attacked and damaged the bus. A case of rash and negligent act resulting in death was registered against the driver by Uppal police. SCPCR member P Achyuta Rao said notices have been sent to the school management to present before the Commission and submit their explanatory report on September 9.

He said the Commission also directed District Education Office (DEO), Hyderabad, to inquire the case and submit a report on September 9.
