Hyderabad: The last rites of Bapu were held at Besant Nagar graveyard on Tuesday. The last march which began at 11 a.m. at their residence in Chennai was attended by various celebrities from all walks of life, mostly from the film fraternity.

Hyderabad: The last rites of Bapu were held at Besant Nagar graveyard on Tuesday. The last march which began at 11 a.m. at their residence in Chennai was attended by various celebrities from all walks of life, mostly from the film fraternity. The last rites were finished in the noon. Venugopal, the eldest son of Bapu, who has arrived from Japan on Monday night, undertook entire ritual performing.

It is evident that 80 year old Bapu, a music artist, painter, illustrator, cartoonist, and designer, suffered heart attack on Sunday evening and exhaled for the last time on Sunday evening at a hospital in Chennai. In 2013, he was awarded the Padma Shri, for his contribution to Indian art and cinema. He directed in many languages of 51 films.
The last film he directed was Sriramarajyam, starring Balakrishna and Nayanatara. He won two National Film Awards, five Andhra Pradesh state Nandi Awards, two Filmfare awards for Best Director for Telugu films Seeta Kalyanam & Vamsa Vruksham and a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award – South for the year 2012.
