T-town actress in prostitution biz

Telugu actress Shweta Basu Prasad was arrested for engaging in a high profile prostitution racket. According to reports, the actress was caught red-handed after the police raided a reputed hotel at Banjara Hills on Sunday night. Along with her, the police have reportedly taken her pimp and other businessmen into custody.

After getting clues about the flesh trade racket from some sources, the Task Force sleuths raided a five-star luxury hotel in Banjara Hills on Sunday night.

Swetha Basu Prasad was reportedly caught along with a few businessmen from Mumbai, busting a major prostitution racket.
The sleuths arrested Swetha Basu and others involved in this 'prostitution' business. The pimp named Balu has also been apprehended in connection with the racket in a decoy operation by sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force (Central) team under the supervision of Additional DCP N Koti Reddy (Task Force).

On receipt of information, police had sent a ‘dummy’ customer to the hotel to ascertain the activities. As the dummy customer gave a go-ahead signal, the team barged into the room and nabbed the actress and the pimp.

Shweta and Balu were produced before Erramanzil Court on Monday. The Court ordered the police to send Shweta Basu to a rescue centre in Falaknuma and Balu to Cherlapally jail.

Cops are trying to get more details from Balu about the racket. “A case under Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act has been registered against Balu,” Reddy said adding that the others who were involved were handed over to Banjara Hills police station for further course of action.

However, this is not the first time that Swetha Basu Prasad has been caught in the act. Earlier in a sting operation by a Telugu TV channel, she was spotted in a compromising position.

However, as the face of woman in that video was blurred, Shweta had filed cases on the channels that telecaste those video clippings.

With this Shweta Basu's career might come to an end. People from Film Nagar say that the actress had started to do all kinds of odd works to earn money. Many from the industry also feel that lack of offers might have forced her to do such a thing.

Recently, the actress had forayed into direction and production. The ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ actress was directing and producing a documentary film called ‘Roots’. She was also acting in and co-producing a Hindi short film called ‘INT. Café –Night’, directed by Adhiraj Bose.
