MUMBAI, September11: The game of soccer has taken an entirely different angle with the newest tweak to the game. Bubble Soccer – one of the world’s latest adrenalin sport – as arrived in India.
Convergence Events Pvt Ltd, India’s leading event management company, has signed the exclusive Intellectual property rights withInternational Bubble Football Association (IBFA) to get the wackier version of soccer in India.
“As much as it is watching guys chase a soccer ball, it is hilarious watching them bounce around upside down with their legs in the air. Some bubbles, a lot of enthusiasm and a mood to just go crazy. That’s all you need. It’s a harmless sport with no room for injury or accidents,” said Mr Kamlesh Sharma, Founder & Managing Director of Convergence Events Pvt Ltd.
Bubble Soccer India is currently being played in many countries like Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Lebanon, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Scotland, Sweden, Spain and Poland. “Bubble soccer is a game that will keep you bouncing in excitement. It’s about smashing into each other, bouncing and rolling in the grass, indoors or even on the beach, in inflatable zorb light balls. You will be laughing too hard to keep a tally, and it’s one of the safest sports,” he informed.
He said that it will be holding this new exciting game, Bubble Soccer, to various cities such as Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nasik, Nagpur, Pune, and Surat. “These include corporate team building events, school/college activations and more to familiarize them with the sport. The property in the form of a championship will commence in January, with sponsorship opening up very soon. This will also prepare a team to represent India for the Bubble Soccer World Cup,” Mr Sharma added.
What on God’s green Earth is bubble soccer, you ask? The most action-packed, entertaining, delightful to watch, safest version of soccer the world has ever seen! The five-a-side soccer game requires a minimum play area of 20m x 15m and can be played either indoor or outdoor. It is a 30-minute game with 5 minutes of Bubble ensconcing, 10 minutes each half and 5 minutes of break time, according to Mr Sharma, who is also Director –International Relationship, IBFA.
Try kicking a ball while inside a Bubble, possibly being bumped or better yet being upside down! Players climb inside a giant inflatable Zorb-like plastic bubble and attempt to compete in a game of football that requires the skills used in standard football on top of the exertion of moving the ball.
Bubble soccer is simple – the rules are no more difficult than standard football with one important difference…using an inflatable zorb-like bubble, one can smash into other players and find yourself literally rolling away from the ball.
As with soccer, bubble soccer is played on a grass field or indoor of usual dimensions, with a referee, and two goals. Sometimes time is kept according to regulations, or games are often shortened by design, by exhaustion, or by the inability of people convulsed with laughter to run after a ball anymore.
Convergence Events Pvt Ltd is the same company that brought Swamp Soccer to India last year. The company’s focus is on sports, health and lifestyle events across India.
