Hyderabad: Title favourites, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are high on confidence ahead of their fixtures in the Champions League T-20. This optimism was visible when team skipper Gautam Gambhir interacted with the media here on Sunday.
They had their first practice session on Saturday, while they open their 2014 campaign against the formidable Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday. Gambhir said ‘we are very excited. Obviously we have never won the title. Hence, the extra motivation of going out there and winning this tournament, we won IPL twice and we have not done really well in the CLT20 and are looking forward to it’.

‘Although, the CLT20 is different from IPL, here unless we have a good start here we would lose out because there is hardly any scope for bouncing back,’ he said Stating that every match was crucial, he said, ‘we are ready for the challenge and we don’t see any particular team, we have to perform against every team. We really need to be on the button and start off immediately. You can’t wait for things to happen.’
On the absence of Shakib Al Hasan and Morne Morkal, he said ‘obviously, we will miss their services because they are quality players in this format.
However, this gives the other players an opportunity to grab it and capitalize on it,’ he said.
