APCC Warns Naidu Against Curtailing Welfare Schemes. Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief N Raghuveera Reddy here on Sunday urged the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to fulfil all the promises incorporated in the Telugu Desam Party’s manifesto before he attended the Janma Bhoomi programme in the State.

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief N Raghuveera Reddy here on Sunday urged the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to fulfil all the promises incorporated in the Telugu Desam Party’s manifesto before he attended the Janma Bhoomi programme in the State.
Speaking to mediapersons at the Andhra Rathna Bhavan, the APCC headquarters, Raghuveera Reddy welcomed the Chief Minister's decision to hold village-level meetings under Janma Bhoomi programme. He said the Janma Bhoomi programme would provide a platform for the people to have direct interaction with the officials and the elected representatives.

He sought to remind the Chief Minister of his promises to waive the loans of farmers, DWCRA women and weavers in the State. Similarly, the TDP had also promised to provide employment to one individual in each family and unemployment stipend, besides increased pensions. He wanted the Chief Minister to deliver on all these promises. The APCC chief was scathing about the TDP government linking the ration cards, pensions and scholarships with Aadhaar card. He wondered whether it meant a bid to deprive a section of beneficiaries of these benefits. The previous Congress government issued 2.30 crore white ration cards, extended fee reimbursement benefit to 26 lakh students and provided free medical care for 2.32 crore families. He warned backlash from the people, even if the State government tried to withdraw the benefits to the poor. The Congress party would take up the cause of the poor and fight for them, he said.
Raghuveera Reddy said he would personally participate in the Janma Bhoomi programme in his native village, Neelakantapuram, and welcome the officials and the ruling party leaders to solve the problems of the people.
Former ministers C Ramachandraiah, Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy and Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru, former legislators Malladi Vishnu and D Y Das, senior Congress leaders N Narasimha Rao, Devineni Avinash, Meesala Rajeswara Rao, Adapa Sivanagendra, Kadiyala Butchi Babu, Akula Srinivas Kumar and others were present at the news conference.
