Momos is one such quick snack which is slowly but definitely catching up the craze with young college students as well as IT professionals in Hyderabad. The origin of this snack, dates back to Khatmandu valley of Nepal &Tibetian region of China, therefore it has ultimately become the traditional delicacy in Nepal, Tibet and Himalayan region of India.

A Momo is basically a steamed dumpling filled with either meat or vegetables. The outer layer is made with white flour and water dough, while the fillings can either be vegetables or meat, and then the momo is sealed and steamed for 20minutes. The momos are best had with a red chilli garlic sauce or yellow sesame sauce. Apart from the traditional steamed momo, you also get them in fried variant with different fillings that can be customized to suit your liking.

Though offlate there are many places in Hyderabad that are offering Momos, KhatmanduMomo located outside Fortune 9 Building, Somajigudaon Raj Bhavan road is where you get authentic momos. Started a little over a year ago by a Nepali individual named Om Prakash, this place has become a hot favorite for all momo lovers. Come in the evening around 5 and you would notice people from every age group relishing these momos.

There is no proper shop or an ambiance, it is simple arrangement of wooden table, steam oven and few boxes of momos with a small banner written as KhatmanduMomo. Priced at Rs 50 for 6 pieces of momos, he sells them in Chicken, Veg and Paneer variants. The Momos are served steaming hot and are extremely soft and delicious.

The spicy red chilli garlic chutney which is served is extremely tangy and spicy, this gives the momos an extra flavor, making them one of the best in the city.A casual chat with Om Prakash and he mentions that he too had ups and downs, during his initial days he struggled to sell even 10 plates of momos, But now he runs out of stock by8:30PM itself, however due to the increase in demand he has extended his timings until 10:30PM.

Thanks to the popularity of these momos, some people travel all the way from Gachibowli, Secunderabad and other areas only to get a taste of these momos. To meet the growing demand, Om Prakash has started his second outlet at Hitech City, beside Honda Showroom which makes it more convenient for IT professionals in this part of the town.
