Engg student raped by auto driver
A 19-year-old engineering student was allegedly raped by an auto-rickshaw driver at an isolated place on city outskirts of Keesara mandal on Tuesday.
Hyderabad: A 19-year-old engineering student was allegedly raped by an auto-rickshaw driver at an isolated place on city outskirts of Keesara mandal on Tuesday. The incident took place around 10 am when the girl, a first year B Tech student, who is known to the auto-rickshaw driver Naresh, boarded his vehicle. The accused took her to an isolated area and allegedly raped her, Keesara inspector P Guruva Reddy said.
“The girl took a lift in the auto as she had known the auto-driver who lives nearby and asked him to drop at a hospital in Ghatkesar, where the girl’s mother was admitted. When the accused on the pretext of dropping her took a different route, the girl objected. Naresh explained the dilapidated condition of the route and hence was taking another route. After some time, he suddenly stopped at an isolated place and sexually assaulted her. After the incident, the girl lodged a complaint,” Reddy said.
“Efforts are being made to nab the accused while the girl has been sent for medical examination,” he said.
