Hyderabad: The three-member committee of principal secretaries, formed to study the relocation of heads of departments to ad hoc capital Vijayawada, has decided to move six departments in the first phase. The committee which met here on Monday, named department of education, panchayat raj, public relations, health, agriculture and horticulture.

The members would be meeting for the last time on October 6 by which they would have information on the space required to house these six departments, number of staff and residential quarters. A report would be sent to the government with recommendations within 15 days, a member of the committee said.

He said it was not possible to send all the heads of the departments to Vijayawada since they would be frequently wanted by the principal secretaries and the Ministers.

The committee, consisting of principal secretary (finance) Ajeya Kallam, principal secretary (roads and buildings) B Sam Bob and principal secretary (municipal administration) D Sambasiva Rao, had a detailed discussion with the HoDs on relocating various departments to the new capital by November.
