Visakhapatnam: The new Andhra Pradesh state will have to begin afresh in the IT sector thanks to the bifurcation of the State, but all efforts will be made to convert challenges into opportunities and make the State as IT hub, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said here on Monday.

Speaking at the conclave of the CEOs of IT companies after the AP Government signed MoUs with several IT companies such as Google India, Wipro and Tech-Mahindra, he said AP has to be built from scratch into a Silicon Valley by attracting investors in IT and allied sectors. Naidu launched three dedicated and empowered missions and a ‘triad of policies’ for growth of IT, electronics and e-Governance and urged investors to start projects in AP at the earliest.

During the conclave, attended by top representatives from 150 Companies, the AP government signed MoUs with Wipro, Tech Mahindra, SAMEER and Tessolve to invest in Visakhapatnam and a separate agreement with Google to make AP completely digital. Several CEOs including Co-founder and Executive Vice-Chairman of Infosys Kris Gopalakrishnan exuded confidence that Naidu due to his pro-active policies would transform AP into a role model State.

Chief Minister said IT would be promoted in a big way in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati and the government was launching several policies to develop the three leading cities of AP into mega cities. He emphasised on showcasing AP’s USP as ‘Sunrise State’ and gave details on plans to promote Sunrise start-up villages at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati.

Naidu claimed that Hyderabad became one of the leading IT hubs in nine years during his previous tenure as CM in the undivided AP and declared that he would take three to four years to make Visakhapatnam a greater IT hub than Hyderabad. Recalling how he wooed Microsoft, Google, Infosys and others to start campuses in Hyderabad when Madhapur and Kondapur had no basic facilities, he said Madhurawada of Visakhapatnam had the advantage of scenic beauty of sea-view and green-capped hills and the government would construct a signature tower at Rishikonda Hill No. 3 in Madhurwada IT SEZ soon.

Giving a rosy picture about future of Visakhapatnam, the CM said it would become industrial, IT and tourism hub whereas Vijayawada would be built as a world-class riverside capital and Tirupati as a spiritual capital.
