Khammam: Competitions in essay writing, elocution, cartoons and paintings were conducted here on Sunday as part of the Police Martyrs Week.

District SP A V Ranganath formally inaugurated the competitions at Sri Krishna Prasad Memorial School. In all 220 students representing Lotus, Harvest, New Vision and Gorke schools participated.

An Open House was conducted at the district police headquarters to create awareness among students about the department’s functioning. Apart from providing protection to the people, he said, the police should be people-friendly.


Weapons used by the police and bomb detection equipment were displayed. Police explained to students the usage of weapons.

The SP said the competitions were being organised to enable students to exhibit their talent. The Police Martyrs Day will be organised here on October 21.

Additional SP Saikrishna, DSP Balakishan Rao, AR DSPs Kumaraswamy and Suresh Kumar were present.
