Hyderabad: The Telangana cabinet will meet on October 24 at Secretariat to discuss priorities for the budget and to finalise dates for Assembly session. The government is contemplating to hold the budget session from November 3. Finance Minister Etela Rajendra will present his first budget on November 5. The cabinet meeting is also likely to discuss the date of launch of various government schemes like pensions and food security cards, restoration of tanks drive among other issues.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao convened a meeting of the legislature party at Telangana Bhavan at 2 pm on the same day. Initially, he will be chairing district-wise separate meetings with MLAs and MLCs to find about issues, problems and priorities for that district. Rao would also seek inputs regarding budget proposals. Later he will preside over the TRS legislature party meeting in which all MLAs and MLCs would take part. With TRS leadership engrossed in budget-related activities and upcoming Assembly session, it looks like cabinet expansion would be delayed for some more time. Speculations did rounds last week about cabinet expansion a day before Diwali or a few days after it. TRS sources stated that Rao was not inclined to go in for an expansion at this juncture.
