Participating in the “Tufanulu Jayiddam Candle Rally at Ramkrishna Beach,” Naidu said “after seeing the people in large number participating in the programme.”

Addressing the gathering at the public meeting, the Chief Minister promised that city would be developed into State’s financial capital, IT hub and an international smart city. The Chief Minister had announced the ban on sale of firecrackers during Diwali festival and instead decided to conduct a torch rally on the beach road.

He said because of the joint effort by all officials and the co-operation of the people, the city returned to normality in a short span of time after the Hudhud cyclone which shook the city.

Naidu thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for granting a relief of Rs 1,000 crore as immediate relief. He complimented the people for proper and regular remittance of power bills. He called upon the people to demand and get the relief material like rice, dal, sugar, chilly powder, oil and potatoes from fair price shops. Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said he was overwhelmed with joy after seeing large number of people converging at the Beach and participate in the rally. He expressed the confidence that the Visakhapatnam would get back its past glory under the leadership of the Chief Minister. “Naidu is addicted to work, and he will work for the restoration of the past glory of this great city,” he said. A smart city like Vizag needed smart leadership with smart people and asked the people to light more lamps on the Diwali day, he added.
