All India Freedom Fighters Successors’ Organisation, AP and Telangana State units, sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, demanding better facilities for freedom fighters. Their 18-point demands include renaming Port Blair Airport as Ullaskar Airport and the islands of Andaman and Nicobar as ‘Shahi Dweep’ in the memory of freedom fighters, merging dearness relief of 218 per cent with the pension of freedom fighters, providing lower berths in trains to freedom fighters and special reservation counters in railway stations, offering railway pass to unmarried children of freedom fighters, giving free air tickets and loans on nominal interest, reimbursing medical emergency expenses, construction of a memorial for freedom fighters in every State and provision of house sites for them.
