Grand celebrations for Guru Nanak’s 545th birth annivesary
The founder of Sikh religion, Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary is a major festival of the Sikh community. To mark the occasion, the Prabhandak Committees of Gurudwara Saheb, Secunderabad and Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Afzalgunj, have joined hands to organise celebrations from November 2 to 6.
The founder of Sikh religion, Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary is a major festival of the Sikh community. To mark the occasion, the Prabhandak Committees of Gurudwara Saheb, Secunderabad and Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Afzalgunj, have joined hands to organise celebrations from November 2 to 6.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, cabinet ministers and Karimnagar Mayor S Ravinder Singh and other dignitaries will take part in the celebrations.
On the occasion, two grand nagar keertans (holy processions) will be taken out by Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha at 3 pm on November 3 and another by Gurudwara Saheb on November 4.
Over 20,000 devotees from across the state will take part in the processions. Guru Granth Saheb will be carried on a beautifully decorated vehicle along with nishaan sahebans (religious flags) all along the procession.
The procession will be marked by rendering of shabad keertans (holy hymns) by the Jatha Tera Jatha and Keerthani Jathas of men and women. Besides that Panj Pyaras (five beloved ones) in their traditional attire will be an attraction
On the day of Prakash Utsav Celebrations, which falls on November 6, a vishaal deewan (mass congregation) will be held at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, from 10.30 am to 4 pm.
The event will be marked by the recitations of gurbani keertans (holy hymns) by the reputed Ragi Jathas (religious preachers).
A night Keertan Darbar will be organised on November 5 at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha from 7.30 pm to 11 pm. Another night Keertan Darbar will be organised at Gurudwara Saheb on November 6 from 9 pm to 2.30 am, in which ragi jathas will recite Gurubani keertans.
