The project was inspected by the Deputy Mayor, GHMC, G Rajkumar and Standing Committee members. The team interacted with officials of the GHMC and senior manager of Energy Efficiency Service Limited (EESL), who explained the advantages of LEDs with regard to more efficiency and less power consumption with evident figures of the pilot project which showed a steep decrease in power consumption.

  • Over 55% energy savings achieved
  • Power factor improvement leading to additional savings of about 15%

“The pilot project was quite successful and the results are impressive. We are in talks with EESL for funding to take up the venture on a larger scale and complete the project at the earliest,” said a member of the Standing Committee, post the inspection.

LED lights enhance the visual comfort while reducing the total energy consumption by 65-67 per cent from present levels. The operating costs of LED reduces due to energy saving, remote control dimming and real-time monitoring with maintenance costs reduced due to its longer life of 50,000 hours, added the member.
