Vittal, father of Vedapati, who was working for a private bank in Bengaluru, said his son was supposed to celebrate Diwali with the family. “I want justice at any cost. The drivers should be hanged.” Shiva Kiran, son of Amarnath of Nizamabad, boarded the bus to visit his new-born baby, but destiny had something else for him. His parents are still waiting for government relief. “The Congress government gave Rs 1 lakh as ex-gratia which my daughter-in-law took. Now I am 64. With no money and home, I am just helpless,” he lamented. Sudhakar, convener, JAC of Palem Bus Fire Accident Victims, said “the fight for justice will go on till the government does justice.”

He recalled former CM N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s assurance of ex-gratia and jobs to one family member each. None had been convicted so far, he rued.
