Trouble started when YSRCP MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy rose to speak. Chairperson D Sulochana, who presided over the council meeting, intervened and tried to say something. At the same time, TDP councillors were on their feet, saying that the council meeting came to an end because all the items on the agenda were discussed and approved.

The YSRCP councillors, alleging that the TDP men were trying to obstruct Nagi Reddy from speaking, raised slogans. It triggered pandemonium in the council hall. The rival groups of councillors exchanged blows too.

A good number of chairs were broken and glass panes of the chamber were smashed during the bedlam.

The police arrived on the scene. Sulochana lodged a complaint with the police.
