YSRCP to observe November 1 as AP Formation Day, Protesting against the ruling Telugu Desam Party’s decision to change the date of Andhra Pradesh State Formation Day to June 2.

Hyderabad: Protesting against the ruling Telugu Desam Party’s decision to change the date of Andhra Pradesh State Formation Day to June 2, YSR Congress Party on Friday said the party would observe November 1 as formation day to “honour sentiments of the Telugu people”.

“The State Re-organisation Bill has been categorical that Telangana has been carved out of Andhra Pradesh state. So there is no logic in changing the State Formation Day,” YSRCP senior leader M V Mysura Reddy told reporters here.

“Telangana was born on June 2 and not Andhra Pradesh. Being a strong votary for an integrated state, YSR Congress feels that November 1 should be observed as the State Formation Day,” he said. History shows that Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh continue to observe November 1 as the State Formation Day even as Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh celebrate the formation day on their respective days of coming into being as separate states.
