Narsampet MLA likely to get key post in TPCC

Narsampet (Warangal): The Congress party has got a shot in the arm in the district with the homecoming of Narsampet independent MLA Donthi Madhava Reddy. On Tuesday, the Dornakal MLA D S Redya Naik, who won on Congress ticket, joined TRS in the presence of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in Hyderabad along with his daughter M Kavitha, a former MLA. Redya Naik was the lone MLA for Congress party in the district.

On the other hand Madhava Reddy, who was suspended from party by the TPCC during 2014 general elections on the charges of anti-party activities, rejoined Congress in the presence of party senior leader Digvijaya Singh in New Delhi. With this, Congress maintained its legislators count.

It might be noted that Madhava Reddy, who was serving as the district Congress president during the general elections, was chosen as party nominee for Narsampet Assembly seat and was also given the B-form. In a swift development, TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah set aside his candidature and chosen to field Telangana JAC leader Kathy Venkataswamy as the party nominee for the seat.

Madhava Reddy, who felt humiliated with the ill-treatment meted out to him, stayed in the fray for Assembly election as an independent. He was expelled from the party for remaining in the fray. Nevertheless, he won the seat facing stiff competition from TRS nominee P Sudershan Reddy much to the surprise of all in the district. In the due course, Madhava Reddy expressed his readiness to rejoin Congress and also was seen moving with the party leaders and played a part in organising camps for ZPTCs during ZP chairperson election. But his entry was said to have been opposed by the TPCC chief and his followers.

Unnerved by such opposition, he used his contacts with the Congress higher-ups and got re-admitted into the party bypassing the State leadership.

His coming back set off jubilant celebrations in Narsampet and many leaders welcomed the development.
