Hyderabad: Attention diversion gang struck at LB Nagar on Thursday afternoon and fled with Rs 4.59 lakh from a couple.

The incident took place around 1.30 pm when the victim, Bangaru Narsireddy, an employee of a private company was on his way home after withdrawing money from Rajadhani Co-Operative Urban Bank Limited in Kothapet. He was accompanied by his wife.

In his complaint to the LB Nagar police, Narsireddy stated that two unidentified persons stole the bag containing the cash by diverting their attention.

“Narsireddy withdrew Rs 4.59 lakh from Rajadhani Co-Operative Urban Bank Limited and kept the cash in the dickey under the seat of his bike. When they reached near Big Bazaar in Kothapet area, they suddenly felt itchy around their neck and hands.

While Narsireddy began scratching his neck, a passerby told him that some stain marks and an insect were on his shirt and offered him some water to wash off the stain marks. Narsireddy immediately stopped the bike and was busy looking for the marks and insect. Later he found that the cash in the dickey was missing,” LB Nagar detective inspector, S Murali Krishna said. Based on the complaint lodged by Narsireddy, police booked a case under Section 420 (cheating) and 379 (theft) of the IPC. They have launched a man hunt to nab the offenders.
