AP Express as Telangana Express: KCR
KCR: Change AP Express Name to Telangana Express. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has requested the Union Railway Ministry to change the name of AP Express as Telangana Express in view of the formation of new State.
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has requested the Union Railway Ministry to change the name of AP Express as Telangana Express in view of the formation of new State.

Rao said passengers used to commute to and fro between Hyderabad and New Delhi in AP Express in the undivided Andhra Pradesh State. Hence it was named AP Express. However, change of name has become inevitable with formation of Telangana state, he pointed out. According to Rao, the train now travels between Hyderabad in Telangana State and the national capital and hence it is apt to rechristen the train as Telangana Express.
Rao further noted that the existing Telangana Express between Secunderabad and Sirpur Kagaznagar could be changed to Komaram Bheem Express. Telangana government will soon be writing a letter to Centre in this connection.
